For me a breakthrough image taken and posted here early in 2013. One of the first images where I was able to come up with the approach to color that suits me and this type of shot in this light… but also one of the first shots from my Leica Elmarit 90mm f2.8, which is a gem of a lens in terms of color and overall look. Anyway, thanks for looking!
that really is a breakthrough image! great shot.
Thank you. Up until that little period and really that day’s shots I didn’t know to what extent I was going to be able to overcome color cast issues I’d always had with this sensor. I’ve kind of never looked back since then so yes, it was a breakthrough. thanks!
Great composition, Donald. This is an image I can look at for a long time, and again and again. So many things have happened, are happening, going to happen…Maybe just simple things, maybe not… Probably different stories just coming together for a moment… This is a short film, more than a shot. I feel there is ‘time’ in it and movement. Of course, in my ever dramatic eyes. 🙂
Thank you so much, Rosa. The perspective of your dramatic artist’s eyes is always so very wonderful to hear. This picture makes a small case for what I try to do. Which is decidedly NOT finding shadows and shapes for a background and waiting for subjects to enter the frame ala so many street photographers or even photojournalists on every level. I believe there are millions of moments in a city or anywhere when there is a convergence of beauty, color, culture, interaction, movement, emotional and psychological states of mind, yes, composition and light… all happening so fast and then gone forever, and those are the things I look for and attempt to capture. This is a shot that satisfies me. Here are real humans in a real setting which makes for a striking image. Anyway. Thank you! Again, such a highlight of my blogging to have such a wonderful painter expressing appreciation for what I’ve done. Thank you!
I find the colour quality coming out of Leica cameras to be brilliant. This is a great example of what the cameras + lenses can do. Of course, has to be a good photographer as well, but I think you know what I mean 🙂
Thank you, Mike. M9 color WAS such a topic for me. Of pain and contention with other shooters. I almost Sometimes can’t believe I’m still shooting the same camera as my first M9. I can’t believe that I’ve been able to make myself happy so much so that I really don’t think about other cameras. And if I could buy five more M-E ‘s I would do so in a heartbeat. Thanks again.
Outstanding!
Thank you!
