Oh Snap!
May the Light of Love Forever Find You
Raging Rivers of Steel

About the biggest favor a resident of Los Angeles can do for an obvious non-resident standing in the street with his entire family is toot the car horn at him and motion for them all to get back on the sidewalk.
LA is a famously fast driving city, no one walks, cars tear through every last half-foot of pavement. It’s not unpredictable. It’s actually extremely predictable. Virtually every inch of roadway in Los Angeles will at various moments of the day have automobiles thundering over it. Curbs are worn with the tell-tale signs of drivers who have slammed and scraped into them.
So let me say it here to anyone who ever comes to L.A. to visit. Wait for the walks signs. ON the sidewalk. When you get the walk sign, proceed warily. If you don’t yet have a walk sign. Wait on the sidewalk. Let me repeat that last part.
ON THE SIDEWALK.
With your precious family. All of them. The children. If you don’t, and someone has to toot the horn at you to make sure you don’t walk into their two-ton motor vehicle, just wave and step back. Maybe with some quiet reflective gratitude.
Maybe not like this this guy. Who began shouting at us in a language I’d never heard before after Mrs. 50’Lux tooted the horn at him. But the tone was unmistakable nevertheless at conveying the message that he wasn’t at all appreciative of the fact that we were sending him a gentle warning that could save his life.

Actually, SO many of the images shown on this website this year were taken with this lens. Just click on the categories or tags under the name,
Okay. Are you ready for the kicker? Nice elderly woman in her 70s El Dorado Cadillac. I’ve shot a lot of photo gear. Pro Nikon gear all the way. I’ve never seen anything like this. Click on either of the images below and be amazed.
Greetings From Last April

Sometimes you’re just not sure about a shot. I take many like that. Sometimes I wonder if those aren’t the actual good shots. Anyway. These three are from last Spring and I’m sure about them now. I’d just acquired my 90 Elmarit and although I’d seen incredible results already, I was still trying to figure out how to focus that lens on the fly. Now I realize I never will and have resigned myself to that reality. 😉 Please enjoy responsibly.
Riding on Air With the 50’Lux – Part Two
Riding on Air With the 50’Lux – Part One

Sometimes I don’t use a particular Leica lens for a while, maybe just to see if I could live without it. Well, of course I could live without any or all of them. But I’m not sure you could call that living. (winking!)
Anyway. I hadn’t shot this website’s namesake lens for a couple of months. I was just loving my 50mm Summicron (Canada) that much, along with the incredible 90mm Elmarit 2.8.
Every time I go back to a lens I’ve been neglecting, it always seems to let me know what kind of fool I really am. The 50’Lux came down hard and lovely on my conscience. Color is different from every other lens. I’ve called it ‘comic book’ color and I stand by that, although these images which are processed might not show that aspect as well as the RAW files.
It may not be quite as sharp as either of my ‘Crons, or quite have that classic Leica sizzle. But the Leica 50mm Summilux ASPH is the Scarlet Johansson of camera lenses. Overwhelmingly smooth and delicious. You really have to click on the images here to see a larger version to see how amazing this lens is.
These were all shot yesterday, Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, on a relatively short ride around certain parts of Los Angeles. Happy to be able to take you all along with us. Me and Scarlet that is. (winking, again!)
